What Does "Full Home Backup"
Really Mean?

When homeowners hear "Full Home Backup," they often think it means they can turn on every appliance in the house at the same time during a power outage.

That's not exactly what it means.

What Full Home Backup Actually Means

Full Home Backup means that your entire home remains connected to the backup power system when the grid goes down. Unlike a partial backup system, you don't have to choose only a few circuits to keep powered.

Your lights, refrigerator, outlets, kitchen appliances, HVAC, water heater, EV charger, and other electrical loads can all receive power during an outage:

Does That Mean Everything Can Run at the Same Time?

Not necessarily.

Every battery system has a maximum power output. If you turn on several high-power appliances simultaneously — for example, an electric oven, HVAC system, water heater, and EV charger — the home's demand may exceed what the batteries can provide.

Think of it this way: Full Home Backup means all circuits are backed up. It does not mean unlimited power. A properly sized system allows you to use your home normally while staying within the battery system's power limits.

Full Home Backup vs. Partial Home Backup

With Partial Home Backup, we select specific circuits — such as lights, refrigerator, internet, and essential outlets — that will operate during an outage.

With Full Home Backup, the entire electrical panel and all home circuits remain powered. You have the flexibility to use any appliance, but high-power appliances may need to be managed if several are running at the same time.

The Bottom Line

Full Home Backup means your entire home has access to backup power — not that the battery provides unlimited electricity.

The right battery system must be sized based on your home's electrical loads, especially high-power equipment such as HVAC systems, electric water heaters, ovens, pool equipment, and EV chargers.

We can evaluate your home's electrical system and design a Full Home Backup solution based on your actual power needs.
